Personal impression of this course

Now I am quite happy that I made it. I did my best during the course althougt this course was very hard. My feelings are little bit mixed, but now I am satisfied that our group finally started to do something together. Our course is for little student so I think that we succeed to desing such a course which be suitable for 8-10 years old students. Also the subject matter is proper to that age of students.  I have same kind of feelings as Anne wrote on her own blog.

At the end I would like to thank Tiina our facilitator and of course whole our group 8 mebmers.

Have a sunny Summer!

Comments for group 6

Your course looked so interesting that I had to look it a little bit precisely. Your subject is very interesting and atleast I like to take photos everywhere I am. I have almost always camera with me. It was nice to read some basic information first and then go to deeper in photographig. I think that kind of subject is interesting to students also then when you teach in school. And it is very useful skill to hadle camera well. I enjoyed your course. Thank you very much.

The last reflection

This course was something very unusual to me. This very independent way to study is also very challenging for me and I think it was challenging for other people too. Even though I have some negative feelings now and during the course, I also learned a lot of new things. For example how students from different countrien study…

The big problem was that it is very challenging to start natural conversation in Internet. To me it is much easier that you meet face to face first and then you can do some collaborative work together in Internet. It seems tahat it easier to work together when you know each other in some way. Collaborative work succeed with Finnish people better because I knew how they are gonna study forward. I think we Finns have somekind of same idea how to study in Internet.

But know the course is end and I am very happy that I made it. ;)

Personal learning contract

  • My objectives: My main objective is to complete with tihis course. My spring is very busy now, because I have to go to work everyday. This course continues long tosummertime so it it a little bit hard to find time to do each week tasks. But I try my best, for sure! ;) I like study in group and I hope our group get in work soon. I do my part in our group, I think it it the main idea for groupworking that everybody is doing own part in the team.

  • What resources will i need: I use my computer a lot and exactly Internet. As you can see in my text I have to use dictionary. Heh! ;) I write every week my personal blog and I also read other students blogs. I have used also e-mail to communicate with Tiina, Katri-Anna and Anne.

  • How will i do it: My strategite is to hang on to this course and do every task I need to. Always when I have some extratime or when is quiet in my work, I read materials from Moodle and other student blogs.

  • Evaluation criteria: I am successful then when I understant learning materials and can give my own opinion to every suject we deal with. I am succesfull also then when I am active.

  • Self-reflection: I am satisfied, atleast now. I must be this active in future too. This course is a bit arduous if we all have to read every week all learning materials and write something to own blog and groupblog and do reclections and read other students blogs and, and… It feels like you can`t familiarise yourself with aech task properly. This is something new to me.

Reflection

  1. What was the most important thing you learned this week?

How much multimedia could give to teaching and learning.

2. What was particularly interesting/boring in this week?

Different kinds of technologies.

3. Was there something you didn’t quite understand and want to know more
about it?

4. What kind of questions/ideas/experiences this week’s activities raised for you?

It is very difficult to decide which multimedia is the best for example in our course desing…

5. Which tools did you use this week, explain what was the purpose of using these tools (eg. social talk, to regulate my team activities, to work on documents)?

I read other students blogs and our croup blog and read course material.

6. With whom did you communicate during this week, how many times, with which tools, and for what purposes?

I communicated with Katri-Anna face-to-face.

Week 9

From the perspective of my tasks in our workgroup, what did I learn from theoretical materials, how to make/use the course materials/activities/assessment/tools?

I agree with Katri-Anna that our course could be desing for elementary school students. Then it is important that the course platform is easy to use and not too complex. Some kind of multimedia for example video could be good for little student because video includes much information what students can see, read and hear. At least to me video is good device to learn new things.

I think that our course needs some face-to-face contacts also. So the video or some other multimedia could be that face-to-face part in our course, it is nice to watch video together and talk about it in group after seeing it. For little students is important that the whole course doesn`t happen online. Students need very much help and if somebody can`t read or write yet there is always teacher who helps.

Week 6

Week 6

What are the best ways of finding a social network of your interests?

For everyday use to meet my friends and other people I use Messenger and Facebook. I have used Facebook something about couple months and I think it is nice, easy and interesting to use. Now I have something about 70 friends there. But I think that it is better to meet your friend face to face than trough Internet but if you don`t have so much common time facebook or messenger is good way to change news. In facebook I meet also those friends whom are living in otherside of Finland.

I also read other sites in Internet for example I read conversations about finnish baseball. And of course I have to be on the ball what is happening in my work area, so I follow up those conversations about digital televisio and so on… It is useful and fun at the same time. ;)

I want to know is the Finnish HOPS not at all same kind of ”contract” that the personal learning contract.. ;)

    4. What kind of questions/ideas/experiences this week’s activities raised for you?

    6. With whom did you communicate during this week, how many times, with which tools, and for what purposes?

    I worked alone.

Week 5

How can a conversational personal contract improve self-directed learning?

Now I have read some of the texts and found some things which are important.

First I have to say that this task was very difficult….

If I understand it right conversational contract helps student to keep up motivation to studies because he or she had ”written” contract with taecher. The student have promised for somebody to take care of her studies and be commited to the contract during studies. I think that conversational contract is something you can yourself interact with. Am I right?

Contract means that the student reflect her own work all the time during the sudies. It is important that the teacher is also active and give feedback to student how it is going. And when needed gives some help to continue with studies.

I am not sure but we have in Finland HOPS (personal curriculum in english??) and I think that could be something similar to personal contract. But I am no sure… ;) I remeber that HOPS is now compulsory for new students in our University. I think it is good thing to think before you studies have properly started preanrrange your studies. It could help you to carry on with studies becouse you know what to do and when. Atleast I think personal contract could help me. ;)
